Frequently asked questions

New customers usually ask three things first: price, lead time, and whether the items are in stock. This FAQ answers those and the questions behind them — which brands Optimus Distributor is authorised to distribute, how quotations and engineering support work, where deliveries reach, and how the company's ISO, MOF and TNB registrations apply to government and utility procurement in Malaysia.

Stock & lead time

On the rack, or a date you can plan against

Do you keep valves in stock in Malaysia?

Yes. Optimus Distributor stocks valves and pipeline fittings at its own warehouse on Jalan Tiara 3, Subang Jaya, Selangor — racked, indexed and ready to collect or ship. The catalogue runs to 283 products across 30 categories, from ball and gate valves to strainers, pressure reducing valves and actuators. If you want to see the stock before you commit, come and walk the aisles during office hours. Our guide to checking valve stock availability and lead time explains exactly what to ask for.

How do I check price, lead time and availability?

One message answers all three. WhatsApp your item list to +6019 750 3980, call +603-5892 1626, or email enquiry@optimusdistributor.com, and the sales team replies with a firm price, the lead time, and whether the items are on the rack. Price, lead time and stock are the three things almost every new customer asks first, so the counter is built around answering them fast. For anything unusual, an engineer joins the call. The contact page lists every channel and when each is staffed.

What happens if an item is not in stock?

We tell you plainly, then give you a date you can plan against. Items we do not hold are indented from the principal — ordered against your confirmed purchase order and shipped from the factory — and the lead time depends on the brand, the series and the factory schedule, so we quote it per enquiry rather than promising a blanket number. How ordering and technical support work walks through the sequence from enquiry to delivery, including where indent orders fit.

Brands & authorisation

Authorised lines, principals and the house brand

Which brands is Optimus Distributor authorised to distribute?

Optimus Distributor is an authorised distributor for five brands: KITZ (appointed in 2019), Yoshitake, Pettinaroli, DFT and DTL. Two further principals — Tiemme and Etelec — are carried alongside them, plus the Optimus house line, making eight brands under one roof. Each authorised line is bought through the official channel, so what arrives is genuine product with the maker's provenance behind it. The products index shows what every brand covers, category by category.

What does "authorised distributor" actually mean?

It means the manufacturer itself has appointed the distributor to sell its product in this market. You get genuine product through a traceable channel, access to the maker's documentation, and a supplier the principal stands behind — instead of grey-market stock of unknown storage history with no factory support behind it. What an authorised valve distributor actually guarantees you unpacks the difference in detail, including how to verify a distributor's claim before you place an order.

Is Tiemme an authorised distributorship too?

No — and we are careful with the word. Tiemme and Etelec are principals: brands Optimus Distributor carries and represents, but not lines where it holds a formal authorised-distributor appointment. The five authorised lines are KITZ, Yoshitake, Pettinaroli, DFT and DTL. The distinction matters mostly for documentation and factory-support expectations; either way, product is sourced through the proper channel and the same engineers support it after it ships. If your project specification requires an authorised source, say so in the enquiry and we will confirm the status of the exact line.

How many products do you carry?

283 products across 30 categories, spanning eight brands. The categories run from ball, gate, globe, butterfly and check valves through strainers, balancing valves, PICV, pressure reducing valves, steam traps, dampers and actuators, to hydronic kits and electrical connection products. We do not publish per-brand counts — the catalogue moves — but the products page shows every category and the brands behind each one, and the sales team can confirm whether a specific series is carried.

Quotations & ordering

Send the spec, get a firm number

How do I get a quotation?

Send the spec and we take it from there. WhatsApp +6019 750 3980 is the fastest channel — send your bill of materials, or even a photo of the nameplate — or email enquiry@optimusdistributor.com, or call +603-5892 1626 during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, lunch 1pm to 2pm). You get back a firm price, the lead time, and stock status. How ordering and technical support work explains what happens after you confirm the order.

What should my enquiry include for a fast quote?

The more complete the enquiry, the faster the number comes back. Ideally: valve type and size (DN or inches), end connection (flanged, threaded, wafer), pressure rating (PN or ASME Class), the medium and its temperature, the quantity, and any brand or standard your project specifies. Do not worry if you cannot fill every blank — that is what the engineers are for — but a complete line item usually gets quoted without a single follow-up question, which is the quickest route to a firm price.

Can I buy in small quantities or retail?

Yes. Selected valves have been available for direct retail order on Shopee since 30 June 2026, alongside the usual trade channel. For anything not listed there — or when you are not sure what to order — contact us and the sales team will point you to the right channel. Trade customers, EPCC contractors and fabricators ordering against a bill of materials should quote through WhatsApp or email as usual; retail listings sit beside the trade business, they do not replace it.

Technical support & services

Engineers on the call, services after the sale

Do you help with valve selection?

Yes — it is the reason many customers stay. We do not just sell parts; we sit down with your engineers to make sure the valve fits the service, not just the budget. That means checking the medium, pressure, temperature and duty before recommending a series, and saying so when a cheaper valve genuinely does the job. The two failure modes we help buyers avoid are going too cheap and paying for it in downtime, and over-engineering past what the project actually needs.

Do you offer valve testing, maintenance and repair?

Yes. Beyond supply, Optimus Distributor provides a complete range of valve-related services, including valve testing, maintenance and repair. That matters most for plants where a failed isolation or control valve means unplanned downtime: the same team that supplied the valve can test it, service it and put it back into duty. Ask about service scope when you enquire — how ordering and technical support work covers where services fit into an engagement.

What if I am not sure whether I am over- or under-specifying?

Send us what you have and let the engineers work through it with you. The two mistakes we see most are buying too cheap — and paying for it later in downtime — and over-engineering beyond what the project actually needs. The fix for both is the same conversation: what is the medium, the pressure, the temperature, the duty cycle? From there we will tell you where spending more buys real reliability, and where it buys nothing at all.

Delivery & coverage

Nationwide from Subang Jaya

Where do you deliver?

Across Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak. Orders ship from the Subang Jaya warehouse to sites and stores nationwide, and the company is expanding into the neighbouring markets of Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand. If your project sits outside Peninsular Malaysia, say so in the enquiry — East Malaysia deliveries are routine, and quoting the freight up front keeps the landed cost honest. Contact us with the delivery address and the quotation will reflect it.

Can I collect from your warehouse?

Yes. Collection is welcome at No. 16, 16A & 18A, Jalan Tiara 3, Taman Perindustrian SIME UEP, 47600 Subang Jaya, Selangor — Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, with a lunch break from 1pm to 2pm; closed on weekends and public holidays. Confirm your order first so the items are picked and ready at the counter, and bring your order reference. You are also welcome to inspect stock before committing to a purchase.

Certifications & registrations

ISO, MOF and TNB — what each one covers

Is Optimus Distributor ISO certified?

Yes — ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management, certified under the United Accreditation Foundation. In practice that means documented procedures for how orders are processed, stock is handled and issues are closed out, audited by an external body rather than self-declared. For buyers, it is one of the checks worth running on any supplier: certification does not make a valve better, but it makes the supply behind the valve predictable, which is what a project schedule actually depends on.

Can government agencies procure from Optimus Distributor?

Yes. Optimus Distributor is MOF Certified — registered with the Ministry of Finance Malaysia to provide engineering solutions to government agencies. If you are procuring for a ministry, agency or government-linked project, the registration means the company can be engaged through the standard government procurement channel. State the requirement in your enquiry and the paperwork your procurement process needs comes back with the quotation, so the compliance check and the commercial offer arrive together.

Are you registered with TNB?

Yes — TNB Registered: formally recognised by Tenaga Nasional Berhad to support Malaysia's national power and utility infrastructure. For contractors and consultants working on TNB and utility-sector projects, the registration is part of the vendor qualification trail. Combined with the ISO 9001:2015 certification and the MOF registration, it covers the three credential checks most Malaysian institutional buyers run before adding a valve supplier to a project vendor list.
